Contact Us		Flat-screen G4 iMac battery replacement Replacement Lithium battery cell for most Macintosh computers (please check size before ordering). For most Macs, the battery fitting is obvious but, if you need instructions, please contact Martin with the exact model number. 1/2 AA size order code F206-520 price £7.95 Disconnect mains power to computer after shutting down. Follow instructions in your User Manual to access main board. Discharge body static by touching metal frame of computer. Remove plastic clip that covers battery on main board. Lift out old battery; note position of "+" end. Fit new battery observing polarity. Replace clip and reassemble computer. NEWER flat screen iMac INSTRUCTIONS: Note: Disassembling the iMac probably voids the Apple warranty. (If something goes wrong or is damaged in the process, you're on your own.) Tools needed: Torx-10, Philips cross-head screwdriver. First of all you need to put the iMac on a soft surface - preferably cotton to avoid generation of static electricity. 1. You must remove the "User Access Plate", simply remove the 4 screws with the phillips driver. (Photo below is with User Access Plate removed.) 2. Remove the marked screws with a Torx-15. Then you can (carefully !!) take off bottom housing. It's a little bit tricky because there is a connector (see photo below - it's on the right side, when you look straight ahead onto your iMac) which fits pretty solid, but when you just pull strong enough on the bottom plate it loosens (but gently, please) OK, once you've got the iMac base open, you can see the battery (green and white cylinder on the right of the picture, below). Simply note which way round it goes, unclip it and clip in the replacement. Job done; now put it back together! Before fitting the bottom housing to the rest you must remove the old heatsink compound (red marked on photo left) and apply new paste. Remember to first scrape off all of the old paste from the surfaces with a soft tool. Next, simply apply the paste evenly to the area highlighted on the photo below, without getting any in vent hole itself. Remember, this is how your iMac keeps cool so be sure to do this carefully.
