The DSI number is the model number on the label underneath on the base of the Digibox. Any letters or numbers after the 4 digits are irrelevant. Your options:1. Get Sky to replace your Digibox. You'll lose your recordings and "component outputs" and it will probably cost £65 if it's out of warranty. 2. Get a local repairer to fix it. It will cost less than £65 and some offer a same-day service. Your recordings will probably be saved. 3. Order an exchange power supply from us (see below) and either fit it yourself or get a friend to fit it. You will have to send your old PSU to us in advance. We will email you a link to instructions, which must be read before you dismantle your Digibox, in order to qualify for our 3 year guarantee. See MORE INFO. 4. Order a repair kit from us and get it "next day". You can then solder the parts yourself (we'll give you a link to our instructions page), or get a friend to do it, or you can take your Digibox to a local repairer. 5. Buy a faulty Thomson Sky+ or HD PSU (via eBay, for example) and send it to us while you continue to use your own. The Thomson Sky+ PSU is identical to the Sky+HD PSU. BEWARE: There are sellers on auction sites offering INFERIOR kits and PSUs. Some of them even have the cheek to use the SatCure name. Ordering a PSUYou can place your order and we'll give you a link to an instruction page with our address. Send us your old PSU immediately and you'll receive a replacement within about 3 - 5 (working) days of receipt (if you are in Great Britain). Do not send us the multiwire connector! Place your order below. Send your faulty PSU to us, by 1st class Recorded Delivery, in a sturdy cardboard box with sensible packing and full details printed on a sheet of paper inside. We'll send you a confirmation, with a link to our instructions page where you'll find our address. OVERSEAS ORDERS Because of time-consuming problems arising from lost packages, we no longer ship exchange PSUs outside mainland Great Britain (and local UK islands served by Royal Mail ). If you live overseas and wish to order an exchange PSU, please specify a UK delivery address or order a repair kit instead. Our 3 year extended warranty applies ONLY to UK addresses. (Please don't send us pleading emails - we won't answer. We didn't take this decision lightly.) Where is it? If you write to us asking for order progress, please provide the date of posting and your Recorded Delivery number, or other proof of delivery. Please do not write to us until at least 6 working days after we received your faulty PSU. Can I pick one up from your Telford office? We do not operate a sales counter but you can take your Digibox to your nearest repairer instead. See list. Can I order an advance replacement or buy one outright? This is not an option because some customers stole our "float" of spare PSUs. See "Your options", above. Do you have any Thomson Power Supplies in stock? We send out PSUs in strict rotation according to when we receive your faulty unit. We can not say whether we will have one in stock when yours arrives so please get it to us ASAP, or use a local repairer, or order a kit instead. What's the overall cost including postage and VAT? Please use the "Shopping Cart" to get a no-obligation estimate. GUARANTEE: We guarantee to repair your Rebuilt PSU if it develops a fault (through no fault of yours*) within 3 years from the day of delivery to you. Proof of purchase required. The guarantee does not include the cost of returning it to our appointed workshop. *Exceptions. The guarantee does not cover "abuse" including damage caused by liquid spillage, overheating (lack of ventilation, fan not working, room too hot etc.) which causes the PCB to discolour more than usual. The guarantee does not cover any PSU not supplied by us. The guarantee is void if you did not read and follow our instructions for removal and replacement of the PSU. The guarantee does not apply outside the area served by UK Royal mail. What's the advantage of a Thomson Digibox over a new Digibox? "[The Amstrad] Box is a definite improvement in many ways over the Thomson, but the picture isn't as sharp. I know others have moved away from the Thomson and found the same, so this wasn't a great surprise..." "This would be a deal breaker for me. I have seen a Satcure PSU modded Thomson side by side with an Amstrad DRX 890 feeding the same TV (with the input settings carefully matched on both inputs to be scrupulously fair) and the Thommo wiped the floor with the Amstrad on SD. It was also noticeably better on HD although the difference between the two was smaller. My brother-in-law whose equipment we were using initially laughed at the Thommo for being "so big and slow" but soon changed his tune when his eyes saw the difference. I had sourced the Thomson and repaired the Thomson's PSU for him as well as installed a larger HDD so he could use it as a multi-room box but the Amstrad is now relegated to Multi-Room duties the Thomson is in the living room (he is not on Sky BB and is not fussed with Anytime+). I bought the Thomson from eBay, got the bag of bits PSU repair kit from Satcure ... and a new HDD from Scan and with an hour or so of my time got it all going for under £90.00. While not as cheap as free, given that the PQ is way better, this option seems more of a bargain to me personally." | |

| As a general rule, if the box comes on or shows any sign of life whatsoever, the PSU is repairable with the "RELKIT" capacitor kit. Otherwise, have a look at resistor R15. If it is damaged, the PSU has had a major blow-up and is probably NOT repairable with only the "RELKIT". However, we will not charge extra for the exchange PSU. (If you want to fix this type of major fault yourself, you'll need the RELKIT and the SATKIT.) |
| Use a hot iron! Modern lead-free solder melts at a higher temperature than the old 60/40 tin-lead solder so you'll need at least a 30 Watt iron with a decent size bit. (The puny little irons designed for surface-mount work are unlikely to get hot enough for successful desoldering.) | |
