 | The dish extension leads made up for you by SatCure are fitted with twist-on F connector plugs. As these are hand-made there is the possibility of mistakes and we would ask you to check them before use* as follows. |

| The central copper core should protrude by about 3mm (red arrows) and should be pointed. The point allows it to enter the socket easily without bending. The copper strands protruding from the knurled end of the plug should be trimmed as short as possible and you may prefer to cover them with tape, or heatshrink sleeving, to prevent the possibility of puncturing fingers! |
 | Take care when handling as the sharp point can cause injury. Inside the plug (red arrow) there should be NO strands of copper visible. These could touch the central copper wire and cause a short-circuit. Check carefully. If you see a free strand, unscrew the plug and remove the strand before connecting to equipment. |
| Note: If you order a made-up lead we don't fit rubber boots. There's a simple reason why we don't spend time fitting the boots and it's this: a boot is for outdoor weatherproofing so the cable has to be passed through a wall. In order to get it through a hole in the wall you have to unscrew the "F" connector. So for 99.99% of orders it would be a waste of time for us to fit the boot and it would increase the price because it's fiddly and time-consuming. There's also a big risk that, if we apply the required amount of silicone grease, it will leak out and make a real mess inside the packaging - leading to complaints. |
 | To fit a rubber boot to a pre-made lead you will have to unscrew the F plug from one end. Apply silicone grease* to the cable and copper braid, then slide the boot carefully up the cable. Screw the F connector back on. Do the checks as above. For an outdoor connection, put more grease inside the boot before pushing it over the F connector. Note: If you apply too little silicone grease, water could get in. If you apply too much, the internal hydraulic pressure could force the boot off! Please check it carefully after a few days. (*Petroleum jelly may be used but it oxidises eventually and is not recommended for long-term weatherproofing). |
 | Leads with moulded plugs can not be modified and it is not possible to fit a rubber boot. |
