Upside Down Dish Why would anyone want to mount a dish upside down? | | One reason might be to minimise the blocking of daylight when a dish is mounted indoors close to a window. The LNB on the arm picks up the reflected signal from the dish so the system works perfectly well like this if the dish is carefully aligned. | Another reason might be to make the dish less obvious when mounted on a balcony. Indeed, in southern Spain, for example, the dish would be almost horizontal so it might look like a table with a lamp above it. Wind resistance would also be decreased. Another advantage is that terrestrial signals from land-based transmiters would be less likely to cause interference. And, finally, if the dish is aligned on a satellite that is low down in the sky, the dish may foul against the supporting pole if mounted normally. Mounting it upside down removes this problem. |
